I want text fields in document to disappear after use

I'm using Word 2003 I have a contract/specifications document that has
comments to the user (identified right now in blue and set off by parens) on
how to use each section of the document. We want the comments to disappear
when the user fills out the document but text will not necessarily be entered
into that area (down below but not where the user instruction comment is).

I've looked at MacroButton fields and Fill-In fields but both seem to
require the user to type in the field, over the text. Any suggestions on how
to automate the specification document so the user still has the instructions
in there during use but once filled out, they disappear so they don't print,
etc.? And, of course, as automated as possible. Thanks.

An alternative is to use text form fields with help text (which is
reproduced in the status bar at the bottom of the Word screen).
Any macro solution contained in the document is likely to be eliminated by
the user.
