I want my MSN butterfly back!

Last night, I tried to delete the pre-installed games in MSN because I have
subscriptions to others I want to reinstall after losing them in a meltdown
over a year ago. I went into Add/Remove Programs and I think I cleared out
some other things without fully understanding their purpose. (If they were
labeled as 'rarely' or 'never' used , for example.)

Now my entire comfort zone of signing in and using my familiar MSN homepage
is gone. I've been able to access my email via Hotmail but Outlook Express
took over what I had as my homepage which was my standard MSN email setup
with a sidebar on the left showing my email accounts, storage folders, etc.

I ran System Restore a few times, using different restore points but the
reply was always the same: There have been no changes to your computer.

As stated, that was my home page which is my MSN with Verizon Premium. I'm
using Firefox as my browser when I leave that page, however... had problems
with IE8; uninstalled it & re-installed IE7 but that was a few weeks ago.

I know I've had this issue in the past after my aforementioned meltdowns,
but was able to get it back to 'normal' eventually... though I have no clue
or memory as to how.

I'm basically self-taught on this laptop which is my first computer which
I've had for 3 years. I'm 56 and am finding more cobwebs than gray matter
between my ears lately and I don't have anyone around to ask for help or
advice. I had asked a question after finding this community several months
ago, and Michael Murphy jumped in to help me with a few things... I looked
back, found my communications with him and used the link he gave me for the
XP forum.

Thank you for taking the time to read my rambling and I hope I've made
enough sense for my train of thought to be followed.

OE may have replaced MSN Mail as your default Mail Client but OE is not a
"homepage" for anything.

Contact Verizon (not MSN) Support and see if they're still offering the MSN
Partner software.

Navigate to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Click on Add/Remove Windows Components (button on the left side).

Scroll down the list and check 'MSN Explorer'.

If it is already, uncheck it and reboot the computer, then go back into CP
and check it.

MSN Explorer should now re-install..

I'm so sorry about my late response; I did not receive notification of these replies. Mike, I think your reply clearly represents all of my concerns and I appreciate your taking the time to 'listen' to all I had to say. I will now follow your recommendations and if you see a rainbow, that's me, smiling! I'll come back and let you know...

Thank you.
