i upgraded my DV1000 with preloaded xp home to xp pro... my machine doesn't
even know it has wireless!!!!!

i can't be first one to have this happen

i the device section under network adapter it does show any wireless or WLAN
stuff.
 
In the Device Manager, right click and select Scan for hardware changes. If
that doesn't work, check the seating of your adapter. If all is well, try
Add New Hardware via the Control Panel. If still no go, remove the card,
pull the power cord, wait a few seconds then reboot without the card in
place. Shut down properly, reseat the card and then reboot.
