I think i have a virus

i'm running XP pro SP2 I have unwanted hard drive activity. 10 seconds of
flashing every minute or so. I have run all the virus scanners and ad aware
programs i can find. but nothing shows up. i have cleaned out my system and
done a full reinstall of windows. the proplem persists. I have turned of the
indexing service on my hard drives. does anyone know what this is please help.

He says he turned Indexing off. To the OP: try doing a clean boot:

Also open Task Manager and see what programs/processes are running
during the hard drive activity.
