Ok, so I have searched high and low for some sort of fix for this problem I
keep having and as a last resort I am posting here. I keep getting an error
that states: somefile.exe - Application error. The instruction at -it
varies- referenced memory at -it varies. The memory could not be "read."
The program will be terminated. Then I select ok and it goes away.

It seems as though the only files this is affecting are the files in the
prefetch setup, but for the life of me I can't figure out what is making it
happen! I have tried msconfig, virus scans, service pack upgrades and fixes,
and so far - nadda. The error still happens. Does anyone have a
recommendation?

Hi

Have you had a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'? They may point
towards the problem.

Just for kicks, delete everything in the Prefetch folder. Don't delete the
folder itself. Windows will automatically rebuild the Prefetch folder the
next time you restart the computer. Let us know.

NEVER download files from anywhere unless it is from the website of the
developer, manufacturer or some entity that you trust. They ALWAYS have the
most up to date files that haven't been tampered with by some third party
who is "hosting" (read Leeching) those files without permission.

Thanks for the idea. That really helped a lot. I am still getting the
error, but certainly not as often. I intend to do a search for the source of
the remaining errors, but I feel a lot better knowing that it is just some
kind of glitch and not a disaster. :)
