i bought vist on its release date from circuit city

2 weeks later i get a notification saying my copy of windows is not
genuine

its really bad could you reply!

Call Microsoft and tell them.
 
Agreed. Either something went wrong with your activation or you got a bogus
key which happens from time to time. A quick call to MS will fix the
problem.

No worries.

Interesting. I find it very had to believe that a major retailer like
Circuit City would get merchandise outside normal channels. If you got
it on EBay, I would understand. None the less, take it back and demand
a refund. Assuming you see a warning screen of some sort, either print
it out or use the built-in screen capture to get a hard copy.
 
Release date was January 30.
so you received that message about 13 February.
Do you still have that message?
Rumor had it that about that time there was a synch issue between the
activation and validation servers and your issue normally cleared up
within 24 hours.
Is the computer connected to the internet?
