I'm trying to type a document and it keeps coming up doubled spaced. How do I
get the program to allow me to type with single spacing.

My guess is that you are using Word 2007. In Word 2007, the Normal style is
set to 10 pt space after paragraphs and a line spacing of 1.15. To change
that:

Right-click in the text you want to change and select Paragraph from the
pop-up menu. In the dialog box that opens, make sure the Indents and Spacing
tab is selected. You can set “Space after†to 0 (zero) and set “Line spacingâ€
to single. Click the “Default†button to transfer the changes to your
Normal.dot so that the changed settings apply to new documents you create.
Click OK.
