Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX 5.64MB
Adobe Reader 6.01

do a file searchs for those 2 days and
see for yourself.

do one search for the day before yesterday.
then do another search for yesterday.

search all files *.* including system and hidden.
then delete your unwanted files at will.

it might be a good idea to do it in safemode
that way you will have a bit more processor
power for searching...

Then that means you have files under your "My documents". Just delete the
files you don't need or move them to another drive.

Run the disk cleanup wizard if you haven't already done so, leave the
default item selected and OK to remove them. Your question about which files
to remove in "my documents" is up to you, they are your documents.

Only you know whether or not you have any use, and therefore need, for
any of those applications. If you've never used them in the past, don't
use them now, and don't expect to use them in the future, then you can
uninstall them. If you change your mind later, you can always reinstall
them from the same CDs from which you initially installed them.

A primary space waster within each user profile would be IE's
penchant for storing copies (or significant portions thereof) of nearly
every web page your friend has ever visited. Try reducing the amount of
temporary Internet files cached, which is huge by default. I always
reduce it to a maximum of 50 Mb. In Internet Explorer, click Tools >
Internet Options > General, Temporary Files > Settings.

Same principle for the Java cache. Start > Control Panel > Java >
Temporary Internet Files > Settings.

The System Volume Information is the folder in which WinXP's System
Restore feature stores information used to recover from errors. By
default, WinXP sets aside a maximum of 12% of the partition's size for
storing System Volume Information, but the amount of space set aside for
this purpose can be adjusted by the user. Start > All Programs >
Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > System Restore Settings,
select the pertinent partition and click Settings. If you don't want to
use System Restore at all, simply turn off the System Restore feature
(Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore,
System Restore Settings) and reboot. This will delete all of your
Restore Points, freeing up the hard drive space.

Another great waster of space can be the Recycle Bin. By default,
this takes up to 10% of your hard drive capacity. On today's large hard
drives, this is tremendously wasteful. It can be set to a lower limit
by right-clicking the desktop Receycle Bin icon, selecting Properties,
and using the slider bar to lower the maximum size to something more
reasonable -- 1% to 2% should be more than enough space.

Yes I already have done that.
Oh you mean deleting my personal files? I have been deleting A LOT
recently but I do not have a cd drive that works and no way to save my
files anywhere else I can't delete them more, then I will have nothing
on my computer. I tought you meant the other files that were taking up
space.
What else is there I can do to get more or free more space?

Well the thing about that is how would I know if I am using them are
not? Like Context modem, I did not know what that is but its my modem
which does not work, but still I cant be uninstalling things that I
need for my system and internet to work, that is why I was asking, so
no not only I would know if I need it because I did not install them, I
would not be here if so I knew! Its a Microsfot Dell Windows XP, if
unistalling any of those will I know be able to get on my computer or
online?

I do not use IE but still clear cache and temp net files as well as the
bin and the system restore

what is this about compress files and folders, besides the disk cleanup?

N

neil

When you deleted the files did you empty the recycle bin. You can also try
deleting all but the last restore point which is under the options tab in
disk cleanup.

Aren't you the one sitting at your computer when you're using it? Just
pay attention to what programs you use.

Like Context modem, I did not know what that is but its my modem....

Huh?

.... which does not work,

Then how are you connecting to the Internet, broadband?

but still I cant be uninstalling things that I
need for my system and internet to work, that is why I was asking,

On the list you posted, there was absolutely nothing listed that there
I would consider necessary to the operation of a computer or connecting
to the Internet, beyond the Symantec security software, and that can
easily be replaced by smaller, free alternatives. Everything listed is
an after-market application put there to be used as desired, but not
necessary for either computer operation or Internet connectivity.
so
no not only I would know if I need it because I did not install them,

Well, who did install them? Are you sure that this is your computer?
If so, why are you letting someone install applications whose purpose
you don't know?
I
would not be here if so I knew! Its a Microsfot Dell Windows XP,

That's a possible. Microsoft doesn't make or sell computers, just
software. I'll interpret this to mean that you purchased a Dell with a
Microsoft operating system installed. At the time you ordered the PC
from Dell, didn't you also inquire into the specifics and uses of any
other bundled software?

if
unistalling any of those will I know be able to get on my computer or
online?

Ask Dell which of any pre-installed applications are required for the
proper functioning of their product.
