Your local phone book is the place to start your search.

so my spelling isn't that good, can you help me with my problem or what.

Run Error Checking (chkdsk.exe).
1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, right-click the drive you want to
check, and then click Properties.
2. On the Tools tab, click Check Now.
3. Do one of the following:

o To run Chkdsk by using the /f parameter, select the Automatically fix file
system errors check box, and then click Start.
[[Specifies whether Windows repairs file-system errors found during disk
checking. All files must be closed for this program to run. If the drive is
currently in use, a message asks if you want to reschedule
the disk checking for the next time you restart your computer. Your drive is
not available to run other tasks while the disk is being checked.]]

o To run Chkdsk by using the /r parameter, select the Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.
[[Specifies whether Windows repairs file-system errors found during disk
checking, locates bad sectors, and recovers readable information. All files
must be closed for this program to run. If the drive is currently in use, a
message asks if you want to reschedule the disk checking for the next time
you restart your computer. Your drive is not available to run other tasks
while the disk is being checked. If you select this option, you do not need
to select Automatically fix file system errors. Windows fixes any errors on
the disk.]]

You have to reboot for Error-checking to run.

While you may attend a school which promotes the educational school concept
that spelling is not important, you will find when you attempt any
programming that spelling and other details are important.

You asked: "can you help me with my problem or what". Note that you used a
period not a question mark.

Your original post stated that you have file corruption. So? While
educational school delusions may consider the word "corruption" a problem
description, it is not. Please try to actually define your problem.

Without the ability to spell and a working knowledge of the English
language, you'll wind up working at Burger King for the rest of your life.
When you post in one of these newsgroups, your post has the potential of
being read by thousands of readers, and when you present yourself as you
have...well, you've seen what happens.

Bobby

so my spelling isn't that good, can you help me with my problem or what.
I find it sad that our present system and all the money thrown at it
results in this example. Perhaps this is the "NEW" English?

I wouldn't be surprised if you who are looking down on this guy would be
working for him in about 20 years.

Glenn

Actually, Glenn, unless he has an entire entourage that clean up his act, he
has no chance in the real world. His is unable to spell and does not know
how to use a spell checker, and just reading his post elicits either
laughter or a shake of the head.

Illiteracy and laziness never made anyone rich.

Final thought...would you lower your standards to work for an idiot that
would create a monstrosity of a post like the one the OP made?

There is hope...maybe he'll someday run his own incest porn site....

Bobby

I confess I never saw the original post unless it is the one at the bottom
of this post.

I was unaware that you had to be proficient in English and spelling to ask a
question on this NG. Come on others. Is this true??

That "idiot" may learn and you may have to raise your standards to work for
him.

It won't be me, I'm retired and 73 years old but I am old enough to know a
snob when I read one. Shame!!

Glenn

Glenn;

I am also retired, and I am not a snob. But I do take offense at someone
who obviously does not care how he presents himself to the world. Ignorance
is ignorance, and cannot be masked. The OP in addition to being illiterate
and lazy, has delusions of grandeur. If he truly desires to do as he
stated, then he has a long battle ahead of him. No need to sugar coat a
response to one as offensive as the one that was originally posted. I have
literally seen better posts from others living in foreign lands that have
never written an English sentence in their life. The OP will not have any
chance of realizing his hopes and dreams unless he learns at least a basic
knowledge of the English language, and can post an "acceptable" post.
Spelling is not a requirement, but when more than 50% of the words are
spelled incorrectly, wrong terminology is used, punctuation is ignored and
the post reads like it was written by a crack addict, then the OP should be
informed of how poorly it was written. If it were ignored, as you suggest,
then he would just continue being ignorant for the rest of his life.
Sometimes, individuals with problems need to be told what their problems
are.
The scary thing about the original post is that the individual is a product
of the American education system. Just think how others must view us after
reading the tripe that was posted. Most third graders could have produced a
better post!

Such proficiency certainly goes a long ways towards making the
post understandable, and therefore much more likely to get a useful
response.

That "idiot" may learn and you may have to raise your standards to
work for him.

One can hope that he will learn.

I don't really think it's snobbishness to ask that those who hope
to benefit from the free support offered here by volunteers at least
put forth the minimal effort to compose a coherent question, do you?
How can they reasonably expect help if they cannot make their problem
understood?

I agree with the view of using decent English and punctuation, I was
just wondering if the person who wrote the original post was/is from a
foreign country or background. In that case I'd give credit for
trying.

I agree with you and let's get to the point. How can we help that guy fix
the corruption on his computer?
