Does anyone know what could cause a computer to take such
a LONG TIME to boot up? I have a computer that is merely
2 years old, Pentium 4, lots of memory and lots of hard
drive space--so its a descent computer. But what I have
to reboot the computer, it takes FOREVER (like 3-4 mins)
to actually get to the point to where I can do anything.
I figure I might have alot running at startup, but how do
I figure out WHAT and get rid of this stuff?? Someone
have any advice? a weblink? Please help!

Less that a minute is what most would do. you need to
look at what is starting.

Start> Run> type "Msconfig" ,OK. On the System
Configuration goto the startup tab, uncheck what you
don't want starting. Apply> OK. Next time you re-boot
you'll get a warning, check the box and ok.

run a spyware remover

post a list of the programs that are stating.

Hi - You should do the first steps of Windows troubleshooting:

1) Scan with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier
than 2002 but using updated virus definitions); 2) remove spyware with
Spybot Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Be sure to update these programs before running,
and it is a good idea to do virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode; 3) delete
temporary and Temporary Internet Files; 4) stop unnecessary services
programs from starting with Windows - see www.blackviper.com for
services info and www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm for programs
info.

Post back after you've done these steps if you need more help.

Cheers,

Malke
