I need some help, please!

I recently upgraded my out of date system to a more up to date system.
I installed an Abit NF8-V mobo and an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor. I
reinstalled windows, and now it seems as though the system is accessing
the HDD way too much, and that is when I load internet explorer, for
example. I currently have 512 memory and an 80GB ATA\133 HDD. What do
you all think? Thanks in advance.

What do I think? umm... to start with:

Ohh.. and probably even more importantly:

However there are other possibilities. First off you should probably
check to make sure that all your drivers are properly installed.
Also, if hard drive access seems slow, check to make sure that DMA
mode is enabled for your drives. This is particularly true if you're
running any version of Windows prior to WinXP.

There are a few other possibilities from the hardware-side of things,
but I would tend to doubt that. I'd say that there's about a 99%
probability that you've got some sort of adware, spyware, virus or
some other form of malware running on that PC. The fact that you're
using Internet Explorer is the first hint (using IE is pretty much
just asking for problems). Also if you just installed Windows, unless
you spent HOURS downloading updates there are probably dozens of
security holes on your system. What's worse, these days a fresh
install of WinXP *WILL* result in some sort of worm/virus/trojan
infection within a matter of minutes if you're PC is connected to the
internet without a firewall of some sort. And even if you do avoid
some of these issues, any number of programs you might have downloaded
can be filled with garbage, even if the program itself is
semi-legitimate (ie Kazaa and all it's adware/spyware crap).

Even if you install the software firewall that comes with XP?
