I am trying to save some pictures that my friend sent me. My computer for
some reason only lets me save picture files as bmp but what I want to save it
as is jpg because the picture is a animated icon and when you save it as bmp
it doesn't work. So how can I get it to save as a different file because when
I save as it only shows the file type option for bmp.

Hey Jelly, I have the same problem. It just happened two days ago, I tried
setting my computer back a few days before it happened but it still doesnt
see any other files but bitmaps when downloading from the web. I'm guessing
a virus at this poit. Look if I find out something I'll post it for you.

Thanks John! Worked for me.

If it's animated...save it in the .gif
format to retain the animation.

If your only choice is.bmp...read the

One of the following should help. In my case the cause appears to have been
the temporary internet files problem and "Method 1" described in # 260650
worked.
