I NEED HELP, ISDN Modem Incompatability with Win XP SP2

I have a gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Motherboard with an Intel Pentium D Dual Core
3.4 945 Chip, 2 Gigs of PC5300 DDR2 Ram. Since I live in a remote section of
Ireland we have discovered Eircom (The telephone co.) will never upgrade our
exchange to support Broadband since there are only 439 houses/telephone lines
on the exchange... So I opted for ISDN... I have purchased 4 different ISDN
Modems, two PCI Cards and two USB modems, The cards caused my computer to
blue screen, so after trying two different cards I purchased a D-Link USB
ISDN TA (modem), it worked for a wee while, then crashed my computer and blue
screened or just rebooted the computer. So I contacted D-Link tech support,
after two hours of discussions and trying different drivers, the tech
explained there was a compatibility issue with ISDN Modems and Service Pack
2. He stated if I had SP 1 or Win 2K the modem would work properly. So I went
out and purchased a TRUST Mini USB ISDN Modem Model md-2100p (13018). I
figured trust was a pretty reliable product and was dead easy. I installed
said modem, connected to Internet and wow... I could download my email with
OUTLOOK Express... But when I went to open my browser... Death warmed over...
All I get on every website is the WINDOWS Can Not display this page...
Everyone has seen it at some time. But with me it's constant... After
checking the trust manual it states probable cause is wrong protocol. But the
protocol is set by the Dial up and can't be changed... I hope there is a
patch to correct this incompatibility issue or if some knows how I can get
the ISDN USB Modem to work properly I would be eternally grateful... The
frustration is driving me around the bend... I am paying a hefty price for
ISDN and can't use it... I'm 72 years old and live on a very limited income
(less then 1000 Euro a month) Needless to say I can't afford to keep
purchasing different modems. I have asked Trust support for help but they
will not reply to my inquiries... So I am hoping someone here might be able
to help me.... I remain gratefully yours

BT Speedway (ISDN) states their internal modem card is compatible with
win9*,win2k,winxp
Eicon Diva Pro, supports win2k, winxp, winserver
Both these are internal PCI cards

If D-Link state their modem is OK on winxp sp1 but not sp2 then their
drivers would appear to be at fault.
On the UK site their doesnt appear to be current model ISDN TA usb
If on the box it states the o/s requirements as winxp then return it to the
supplier, as DLink tech are stating its not supported in sp2.
USB modems can be problomatic, an internal PCI or ethernet connected modem
is better.

Both BT & Eicon have drivers available on their sites I have used both these
cards with the 'others drivers' and they worked well, both for internet &
Fax. The drivers can be difficult to set up correctly.
What internal PCI cards have you tried?
Did not Eircom supply a card?

Your extra modems would sell on Ebay

Go to the Microsoft knowledge base, do a search on XP SP2 ISDN and review
the XP firewall setup...

Thanks Dl, But Every Internal and External ISDN Modem acts the same way, they
blue screen my computer, or reboot it and if they don't do that, they just
crash out and you have to reset the computer, can't even access Task
MAnager... Yes I agree it's a driver problem, But for All the companies have
an issue with XP SP 2 The same modems work with the install disk no problems
on my other computer that has Win 2k and my third which I installed Windows
XP Pro SP-1 on those two computers the modems work beautifully, but I want to
use my main computer which I have spent a few quid on and really enjoy, I
even have Vista (in a dual boot mode) on it and when Vista drivers come out
I'll use only Vista... Again Thanks for The help, ps: I hate ebay and don't
use it.

I've had no problem with either Eicon or BT cards
If as you say other PC's are OK then there is allways networking via a
reuter.
