I need a product key

Are you sure it was a Full Version?
Most of those come with a Trial Version of Software.
If it was supposed to be a Full Version You should have a Key with the
packaging.
(My Guess is it was a Trial and it's exactly X Number of days since you
bought it.)

Or if you just got it, It was a "Returned" Item and your trial was activated
by the other person.

Either way You probably need to purchase a new copy
newegg or costco is a good source for this but there are many others
But be warry of extreamly low cost, because they are pirateded and you will
most likely get a regected license when you install it.

Since that was probably a trial version, you're pretty much SOL. However,
you can get virtually the same functionality by installing OpenOffice.org
for free.

"Virtually" is the key word you used. Not to be confused with real or
total or exact or actual functionality. Oops!

No 'oops' at all, frankie. I never claimed it was 100% compatible - but
then MS Office isn't either - always problems encountered every time they
up a version - trying to make everyone in the world upgrade to the latest
version if they want to continue exchanging information.

In it end, it is up to the individual to give it a shot and see if it
meets his/her needs - most likely it will. OpenOffice.org does a good job
of importing and exporting MS office files and providing similar
functionality - much better than the other way around.

You're a lying snake, ray-baby!

Stop trying to push your assumptions off onto others.

OpenOffice.org does a good job

Sorry ray-baby, but that is simply not true.
Big oops!

OOo is functionally compatible with MS Office for the most part,
although the menus are considerably different.

For those who use the mouse the transition from Office 2003 to 2007's
ribbon interface was pretty steep. If you used keyboard shortcuts it was
pretty much the same for both versions.

I use both programs and actually prefer MS Office but you can't beat
OOo's price!

Functionality is similar, but one of the reasons I choose OOo recently
is because it's menus are much closer to the older versions of MS Office
(pre 2007).

I use both also and prefer MS Office pre 2007 versions.

Oops!

Not much of an "Oops."

There is both "real" and "actual" functionality. It's not "total," or
"exact," but it's pretty close. Note we're talking functionality here, not
how to invoke that functionality. I use Word/Excel/etc. at work and
OpenOffice at home, including exchanging documents between the two, and have
been doing so for two years with no failures.

The worst I've encountered is actually having to open OO's help function to
see how to do something that I already knew how to do with the MS
equivalents. But then, in some of those cases, I'd also had to open MS's
help to find out how to do the same thing in Word or Excel.

To Lawal Fatai:

Assuming the problem really is that your trial versions have expired, you
can spend the money to buy the full versions. There may even be a discount
offered if you look around the trial version registration/product key
screens. You can also try OpenOffice. It works pretty well, and at a cost
of zero, it's worth a look. As another plus, on any machine I've put it on
then decided to remove it later, it's always uninstalled cleanly. One
caution, however. When it presents you with check boxes during install or
upgrades, read them carefully.
