I messed up folder options

Hi.

Previously a few days ago, I went into Control
panel>Folder options and in an attempt to stop XP from
asking me what to do every time I turn on my external USB
drive. I was unable to select the 'Take no action' and
then select the 'always do the selected action' checkbox
because the checkbox wasn't there.

So there I was in the folder options dialog screwing
about with the 'Edit File Type' function with the 'Drive'
option in the list of registered file types.

I opened 'My computer' today and I noticed that now when
I open my hard disk, The serach function appears.

I went back into the folder options and I
set "explorer.exe" to open when I access my hard drive
via my computer but it opens in a new window instead of
the same window. I also noticed that there is an option
that says 'Browse In The Same Window' but that check box
is grayed out for some reason.

I have no idea how to fix this. System restore was not
enabled and I didn't back up.

So, In summary.
How do I prevent windows from opening a new window when I
access my hard drive via 'my computer'?

Thanks for reading. :)
