Just a hunch ... the "red" gun on your monitor has probably died. There
are three of these in colour monitors ... red, green, and blue. Can be
fixed maybe, or maybe time to buy a new monitor.
Or the connections between the computer and monitor are loose. Tighten
them up.
If you have a spare monitor that you know works, try it.
