Hi there,

I have a valid key but I've lost my Windows XP Professional installation
disk. It was an old XP Pro "Gold" or SP 1a disk. I tried using my friends
Windows XP Professional SP2 disk but it wouldn't accept my old CD key. What
can I do? Is there somewhere I can download the right CD (keeping in mind I
don't have a CD burner at home because the only one is in my currently not
working system that I need to install to) or have one sent to me? Or can I
even get my CD key upgraded to a SP2 key?

Thanks in advance,
Ashley

SP2 cds dont use any keys......The cd with SP2 must be a installation cd with
xp & SP2 on it.If youre old xp cd was a retail version not an oem
type,contact
microsoft...Youre going to need a cdrom or rw,walmart sells liteonit cd cdrw
dvd dvdrw for 42.00,a plain cdrom is probably in the 25.00 range...

No no, I meant I tried a Windows XP Professional SP2 installation. As in its
an installation disk with SP2 already included.

Thank you. I was going to ring them tomorrow anyway, but I posted on here for
now as it was after hours to call Microsoft Support.
