OK, here's the deal. I deleted all of the basic games (solitaire, spider solitaire, pinball, etc.), and I also deleted them from the Recycle Bin. I need to know as soon as possible how to re-install them or download them, MAJOR ASAP!!!!!!!! My mom wants to play games, and she's really mad at me because I deleted them. So SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you actually uninstall the programs themselves, or did you just move the
icons on the desktop to the recycle bin? To be sure, go to Start/search/All
files and folders. type in the name of the game you want to find -
solitaire, spider solitaire, etc. If these are found simply right click on
them within the search window and, holding down the right mouse button, drag
them onto the desktop. Choose Create Shortcut from the menu that appears
when letting go of the right mouse button. This will create their shortcuts
on the desktop so you can move them into the games folder later.

If you have deleted the game programs from your hard disk, you will need the
Windows XP Install CD. Go to, Control Panel/Add or Remove
Programs/"Add/Remove Windows Components". Highlight "Accessories and
Utilities" and Click on Details. Make sure there is a tick next to Games
option - if there is not, put one there. With the Windows XP install CD
inserted, Click on Next. Your Games should then reinstall.

The easy way, since they are "system" files is to go into Control Panel/Add
or Remove Programs and then click on the Add/Remove Windows Components in
the left pane. On the first screen, with Accessories highlighted, click the
Details button. Then highlight Games on the next screen, and again click
Details. You'll see all the games listed, and by putting check marks in the
boxes, then clicking OK, the system will reinstall them for you.

Go to the most recent restore point under system restore , right before u deleted the games. restore it , reboot it and they should be back on there
if that doesnt work u will have to re-install the XP operating system, hint: if u have music or movies save them to disk so u dont have to go through all that again. Peace

What the hell are you talking about? Reinstall XP? Have you ever heard of
add/remove windows components?

Chris H, Thank you! You've restored my sanity. I've only had my notebook a week, and my games were gone - the games file showed as 'empty'. I didn't delete them, I didn't even play them. When I tried to 'search' for them I had no luck, and no one knew what it was I could do to restore them. I just followed your instructions below and all my games and what's left of my mental health have been restored. Thank you again! Michelle
