I just want to number my pages

Simple - how can I get back to numbering pages the easy way - they way it
made sense, could be easily found, viewed and edited? I just want to be able
to put in MY Page numebring, not be limited to the gaudy ones that drop down
in 07.

For example, I'd like to put a tble with 2 columns and on in either one, Put
"Page # of #pages". I managed to figuer out where 07 hides the Footers and
managed to UNgray the grayed out Page numbering gaudy tempoleates by deleting
the eronous buildingblocks file - wheew - now, Footers work - sort of.

How to get by the gaudy Page numbering templates and simply add, the way it
worked before they fixed it, simple page numbering?

I am told that Current Position: Plain Number is the equivalent of using the
Insert Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar in previous
versions. Page X of Y is a little more difficult (if you use Page X of Y
from the Building Blocks Organizer, it will be bold), but you can always
handcode the fields or choose Field... from the Quick Parts menu. It's
unfortunate that NumPages is not on the Document Property menu.
