I just received my Epson Stylus Photo 960

Dan

It just arrived yesterday. Within 15 minutes of opening the box, I was
printing awesome photos. I have it hooked up to the print server on my
wireless router via the parallel port so that I can share it. Since the
router does not support bi-directional printing, I installed a second copy
of the printer on the PC next to the printer that uses the USB port so that
I can monitor ink levels. Works out well.

I printed a CD for the first time tonight and that was not a total success,
but I think that it was due to my error. The front sheet feeder started
pushing out halfway through the printing process and eventually came off.
The top half of the CD looks great, the other half not so great. I bought a
30 pack of printable CD's today, so I can try to figure out what I did
wrong.

I plan on using only Epson OEM ink jet cartridges. Besides that, can people
who have not had any problems with nozzles clogging share their tips with
me? I want to have problem free operation. Any other tips for problem free
operation would be most appreciated.

About the ICC profiles that come with the printer. If I let Windows XP Pro
decide which profile is the best, how does the OS determine which is the
best profle?

Thanks!

Hello Dan,
It just arrived yesterday. Within 15 minutes of opening the box, I was

Welcome to the club, I only got mine a few weeks ago and am equally
pleased.
I printed a CD for the first time tonight and that was not a total success,
but I think that it was due to my error. The front sheet feeder started
pushing out halfway through the printing process and eventually came off.

I be like me, you failed to read the instructions fully :) Turn the
dial on the right completely round as far as it will go, shove the sheet
feeder in (on top of the other tray bit of course) making sure that the
oval cut out in the feeder, matches up with the oval cut out in the
thing it sits on top of.

Push the adjuster in towards the feeder to make sure you have a snug
fit, then move the dial round one to the picture of the CD and you are
ready to roll.

Hope the above description did not come over as being too technical :)

I have been buying mine from www.eezytrade.com and have been very happy
with the quality and price. The site gives one the impression that it
might be run from some bodies back bedroom, but I have bought several
times and am happy enough to recommend trying them.

So far as clogging is concerned, the general advice seems to be with any
Epson printer, that if you print at least one picture a week, you are
unlikely to get any problems.

I am yet to understand what any of the above means :-(

To confuse me more, my camera a Minolta A1 supports Print Image Matching
as does the 960 - perhaps I am just lazy, but PIM and ICC seems far too
technical for my 55 year old brain to take in :)

Best wishes,

Hello Dan,

Sorry about my reply, I have only just noticed that yours is the 960
(which presumably means you are in the States) and mine is a 950 (here
in the UK).

But was is 10 between friends?

The US version, i960, does not print on CD's, only the i950 version which is
available in the United Kingdom. Where did you hear that the i960 prints on
CD's?

Worked like a charm the second time. I did not have the front sheet feeder
locked previously.

The Epson 960 prints on CD. Are you confusing the model number with a

Yes, I blew it. As soon as I saw the post tonight the name Epson hit me. Don't
know why I read Canon last night instead of Epson. Sorry about that and I'm
glad the original poster has things under control, despite me.
