Click once on the stop signs and note what happens.. then click once on the
eye glasses, and repeat the former procedure..

The eye glasses color the post red such that you can find and follow it..

You are inadvertently tagging your posts/the threads as monitored (the
glasses) or ignored (the stop signs). Click the icons to change the tags.

Ok, Charlie42, please tell me how to un-tag. It's been doing that ever
since, very annoying. Thank you.

Just click on the symbol (stop sign or eye glasses) once or twice until
it disappears.

Do what Dave suggests. Once you remove the tags, they should not reappear.

Your newsgroup client is set to automatically tag threads you post in as
monitored. In Windows Mail, you can alter this setting in Tools > Settings >
Advanced tab > Untick 'Mark threads I started'. Most other newsgroup clients
have a similar setting.
