I have no sound on my computer

My sound is gone on my computer.

When I go to the controlpanel and check sound there it just says "no sound unit" and everything is greyd out.

I checked that manager thing which lists all hardware and choose sound/video but in there I just find things like "sound codec" "video codec" "old sound drivers" "old video drivers"

Its like the computer doesnt know the speakers exist.

Perhaps your sound card has died (you DO have BOTH a sound card and its
driver installed, don't you?)
