I have Limited or no connectivity...

I have a cable connection on my computer... runing WInxp Pro.. I called my
ISP and ask for some help they told me that i have a winsock error or
something of the sort.. how will i be able to repair thid problem... i know
its a winsock error because my IP address win not reset to the automatic on
that the ISP gives me.. so i am not able to connect to the internet
