I have forgoton my password PLEASE READ!!!

I have forgotten my password.I am the administrator on my
computer. There is one other account,but it is a limited
account, so its no help.I don't have a password reset
disk. Somebody sent me to \winnt\system32\config, but its
for Windows NT and have XP! Little help here....

You are about the kabillionth person to ask this question and I am curious
about something. How does one go about picking a password to use that is so
"forgettable"? During the install process you would have had to pick
something to use as a password and you would have had to use it at least one
time to log into the machine, how do you pick something so obscure that you
would forget it?

A lot of kids (I will not give them the respect of calling them children)
want to break into their parents computer!

Or maybe the wife trying to get into the husbands files. Unfortunately
someone here will tell the poster how to get in, personally I wish there
wasn't any way to recover a lost password in XP.

system32\config

He was correct because the security SAM file is stored there. Retrieve it
and get the passwords.

Some people should not be allowed to use computers for their own safety. I
find it totally amazing that anyone could forget their password. I have to
agree with Norm it is probably a spouse wanting to check up on the other for
what porn sites they are going to or who they are corresponding with.

UPS "lost" my laptop when I shipped it home to the makers for repair. I
never trust anyone who has "forgotten" their password, it just might be the
new owner of my machine!
