I have empty icons. How do I make them full again?

I open up powerpoint 2003 and go to format>slide layout or format>slide
design and a task pane appears on my right but the icons that show a preview
of templete do not show up. They show up as a blank template. I put my
mouse pointer over the icon and an arrow pointing down shows up, but no icon
preview. The problem goes away when I close out of powerpoint and reopen
powerpoint. Also, the computer is on Active Directory.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Office 2003 and I have tried
web updates. These do not work.

Anyone have any ideas?

Please make sure that Service Pack 2 for Office 2003 is installed. If the
previews still don't show up, search on the graphic card manufacturer's
homepage, whether new drivers are available. And/or reduce hardware
acceleration for your screen in Windows settings.

Best regards,
