I have a P looking charater in Word

I have a P looking charater that appears in all Word doccuments and all words
have a period seperating them. Not sure what I have done. Any ideas????
 
It's called a pilcrow. You have accidentally(?) clicked CTRL+* (shift 8)
which has toggled the display of formatting characters. Press again, or
click the ¶ button on the formatting toolbar to toggle it off again.
