No matter what application, be it a mdb or mde, I
launch, I get the same message:

Microsoft Access can't change the working directory to 'c:\TMS.'

While it's true that I do in fact have applications in that directory,
I've temporarily renamed that directory to TMSxxx while working
with other mdb's totally un-related the TMS applications.

Even if I create a new empty database, close it and re-open it I get
the message.

I can't find anywhere in Access that necessarily ties it to 'c:\TMS.'.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

If you open up Access and any database. On the menubar, go to Tools ...
Options, then click on the General tab. Change the default database folder
in the lower left corner of the dialog.

Hi, Bill.

Select the Tools -> Options... menu to open the Options dialog window.
Select the "General" tab. Type a legitimate path in the "Default database
folder:" text box, and then select the "OK" button to close the window.

Ah ha! The reason I didn't see Options enabled under
Tools is that it isn't active unless one has opened a
database, i.e., when one launches Access there are
no options until a database is opened.
