When I create emails or reply to an email, in Outlook, a copy of the email I
write is sent to the inbox of the account I send it from. I can't find
anything to switch this off. Help!

Type of email account? (i.e. POP, Exchange, http etc etc). Version of
Outlook? Operating System?

I'm running Outlook 2003 with Windows XP SP2 and work with 7 email accounts;
6 are POP and 1 HTTP (Hotmail).

Check your rules, that you haven't got one set up that automatically CC's
you or something like that....

I've removed all rules and it's still doing it.

Also, does it happen for all the pop accounts or just one? And if it is
just one, might it happen to be a gmail account?

It happens to them all inc the Gmail one.

For gmail, I believe it is standard operating procedure, at least, it is on
my system. It's really based on how they store messages, where everything
is in one big inbox, as I understand it. I'd need to use a few different
mail clients to test, but, based on usage of gmail, that functionality made
perfect sense to me, especially since I don't see the same effect on
hotmail.

I can confirm that - it's a PITA if you never use the webmail component, but
if you do, it means that if you send from the web, you then get that message
when you use the POP access and you can then move it to your Sent Items.....

I simply set up a rule to move the sent items to the sent items folder.
Conversely, I guess I could just delete them, but that'd not be a good idea
since I still send some messages from the web interface. =)
