I get this error when I am using Access. I make my database and work on it
and then it just won't work anymore and says the error: error accesing file.
Network connection may be lost. It gives this message to files on my
harddrive and ones on the network drive. When I check on a different
computer, its the same message

I am having the exact same problem, and I have not been able to figure it
out. I have also had some other database corruption problems. Compact and
Repair does not fix it. I did read somewhere in the last few days that a bad
Network Card in your computer can cause database corruption problems. I am
having my card replaced next week. I hope that fixes it. I will let you
know. If you find the solution before I do, plese post back the the solution.

Good Luck (to both of us)

If you're using Access 2000, and it hasn't been patched to the SP3
level, this KB article describes a nasty bug that may have bitten you:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];304548

Office 2000 SP3 fixes the bug, but that won't repair your corrupted
database. You'll have to resort to a backup, or else try importing all
objects to a new database -- some objects probably won't import, and
you'll have to recreate them from scratch. When you do import the
objects, unless you've applied the service pack, it is *crucial* that
you compile and save the project before closing the database.

Thanks, Dirk. I believe that may be it! I was even thinking about a post I
saw that said a faulty NIC could cause database corruption. Now, how do I
determine if SP 3 is installled or not?

The Help -> About Microsoft Access screen should tell you. Yes, faulty
NICs can cause corruption, but if that KB article applies to your
situation you'd better get it patched as soon as possible.

I am using access2000 but have office 2003 loaded. Can I still patch
Access2000 to cure this problem
