I get error when trying to drag outlook files to cd-rw

Using Outlook 2003. When I try to drag the backup file to the cd drive, I
receive an error that says a problem was encountered when trying to copy the
file and what do I want it to do...retry or cancel. I'm using sony cd-rw 650
mb. Any suggestions

Make sure Outlook is closed when you try to do this so you can be sure the
PST file is closed.

Outlook is closed and I still get the error message

Double check and make sure Outlook.EXE isn't listed in Task Manager.
Sometimes it will 'close' but the EXE stays alive
