I get a black box when inserting a video, how come?

I insert a movie into a powerpoint slide and only get a black box. If I right
click on the black box and delete it, the movie plays, but only once. It
disappears when I go to a different slide and return to the video slide.
Any suggestions?

- Is the black box seen in the edit mode or in show mode? (edit mode will
only show the first frame of the movie, which is often black).
- Are you using a multi-screen (or computer to projector) setup?
- What version of PowerPoint are you using?
