I.E.envelope icon no longer opens Outlook

Op System: WinXP
Software: Office Outlook 2003

The latest WinXP update somehow reset the instructions underpinning the
envelope icon on my Internet Explorer icon. I.e., I'm no longer able to
open Office Outlook by clicking on the envelope icon in Internet Explorer.

Can someone explain to me what setting(s) I need to change so Office Outlook
opens when I click on the envelope icon?

Thank you,
John

From within IE, 'Tools|Internet Options|Programs', select "Microsoft
Outlook" in the "E-mail" window. If that doesn't seem to work, try starting
Outlook with the /CheckClient command line switch.
