I don't want Windows Messenger

L

LDR

I am running Windows XP Home Edition and, on those rare
occasions when I use an instant messenger, I use the aol
version. I do not want any part of Windows Messenger.
Still, whenever I connect to the internet, I get a
message that I cannot continue until I install Windows
Messenger. Typically, it pops up twice per connection.
How can I get rid of this annoying imitation of a virus?
If I am reading the website correctly, I would have to
pay Microsoft a support fee in order for them to tell me
how not to use this product.
