I don't understand why Outlook changes my email account settings.

I use Verizon DSL service and set up the following for my email account in MS
Outlook:
incoming mail server: incoming.verizon.net
outgoing mail server: outgoing.verizon.net

I input my user name and passwords in the correct boxes, checked the "My
outgoing server requires authentication" and "Use same settings as my
incoming mail server" buttons, and checked the "Connect using my local area
network" button.

When I log off and log back on to my computer, Outlook changes the incoming
mail server setting from "incoming.verizon.net" to "localhost" and changes my
username from "username" to "username/incoming.verizon.net".

The settings changes cause me to have to adjust them at the beginning of
every setting in order to send email.

How can I get Outlook to keep the settings as the way I set them up?

Thanks,
Bruce

That's an anti-virus (or Anti-Spam) software issue. It changes the POP3
server name to "localhost", "127.0.0.1", or "pop3.norton.antivirus" in order
to scan the e-mail as it downloads. If this prevents you from downloading
mail, then the anti-virus software is malfunctioning. Check with the
anti-virus software manufacturer for update or configuration help, or
disable the anti-virus software from scanning e-mail.
