I've been working on password protecting a page of the website I edit with
FP. I contacted the host and they did some of the setup but, they sent the
following message and I don't know how to proceed. I am a novice so I will
need a very simple step by step explaination.

AuthUserFile /home/my club/members_only/.htpasswd

AuthType Basic

AuthName "Restricted Files"

require valid-user

you need to put the above line to .htaccess. But since I put it for you
already, u have to do it. You just need to change .htpasswd now.

I think I only have to deal with the .htpasswd only but, I don't know how
to get started with that. I don't see anything like that on my fp pages.

Thanks in Advance

If they're using .htpasswd it means your site is hosted on an Apache / UNIX server.
If you have the web masters Cpanel ( Control Panel ) for your account, you use it to password
protect directories, and not FrontPage.
