I do not want today's date inserted on old docs help?

Hi everyone. When I open a document the system keeps inserting today's date.
I do NOT want this to happen. I want to retain the original date. Can you
tell me how to correct this? Thanks

You have inserted the date as a DATE field instead of date text or a
CREATEDATE field. Press Alt+F9 to display the field code, change DATE (or
possibly TIME) to CREATEDATE, Alt+F9 to toggle back, and F9 to update. For
