I can't 'View Source'

F

FireBrick

Somehow I've lost the ability to view the code.
I go to View, click on source and nothing happens.
I apparently turned off some feature but not sure what it is.

Running WinXPPro with Security Manager and Anti Spyware.

Any clues as to what I did????

Please and thank you.

Hi,
First, clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

If you have a shortcut to Notepad.exe on the desktop, rename it.

It's been reported that Quick View Plus can cause this. The fix for that is
at http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/774/

Additional information at

Thank you.
Clearing the cache seemed to do it.
I couldn't believe how long it took to clear.
Many minutes of the hard drive light flickering before it released the
machine.
What do you suggest for a size?
I do a lot of surfing obviously.

I am sure Don will return to your post but he has already mentioned a
recommendation of 50MB.
I go along with that.

duh, I do remember that.
I posted a reply a day AFTER reading his suggestion, that's a long time for
an old guy like me to remember....sorry.

Alan, does 50mb make sense to you for a broadband user? I have mine
set to 8mb and seem to do just fine. Letting a document reload isn't
an issue at up to 4kb/sec, unless I manage to find that extra pokey
server that's always overloaded. :)

50mb or less is what I am happy with, though I am not too familiar
with broadband use.

Hi,
A too large cache is more likely to cause problems than a too small cache.
When the view source/cache problem first appeared in the newsgroups, it
seemed to involve a cache size of about 100 MB.

There is probably nothing wrong with an 8 MB cache. I choose (arbitrarily)
50-60 MB because I usually don't fill that in a day. I clear the TIF at the
end of each day as part of a "cleanup minute."
