i can't type during lauching startupdisk

i use startup disk to modify something, after it has booted up, it ask me to
select Command Interpreter. Which one should I use? MODE.COM or KEYB.COM .
And I can't type, donno why the keyboard doesn't respond, but I can use the
BIOS.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand 1) what startup disk you mean; 2) what you
are trying to modify; and 3) what this has to do with Windows XP. Please
describe what you are doing more fully so you can get focused help.

1)i want to boot the DOS using startup disk(floppy)
2)actually i'm not modifying, i want to replace the new shell32.dll that i
have edited to original shell32.dll in system32.
3)i edited the icons in the shell32.dll because i want to change the whole
icons.
