Gabriele The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not
be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'mail',

The Relaying denied part of this error message indicates that your
connection
to this server crosses over from one internet provider's equipment to
another's
before it reaches the server. If this happens, connections to port 25 are
often
blocked to cause trouble for spammers, and you should ask bbtel.com if
their outgoing email server listens for outgoing mail on any port other than
port 25, and if so, where to find the details of how to switch over to the
other
port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to find out, since there
are
about 65,000 ports available.

This website should lead you to where to you can send mail, but not through
the
Windows Mail program:

Yahoo doesn't use port 25 for its SMTP server. It uses 465, and
authentication.

Yes, but the OP is not using the Yahoo SMTP server, so that doesn't enter
into the equation.

My guess is that you got that error message while your Internet
connection was coming from some source other than Bbtel.com
(Brandenburg Telephone). If you need workarounds for this problem,
describe your circumstance (i.e., using laptop away from home).

Yes it does, because he's trying to send Yahoo mail through his ISPs SMTP
server. If he changes to the Yahoo SMTP server the problem won't exist...

It should not be necessary to switch to the SMTP server of the recipient.
Normally a user can send email to anyone anywhere in the world, merely
by using their own ISP SMTP server.

True, but the Yahoo SMTP server is entirely ISP independent....

I am using port 25 for my smtp server right now.

Ok, perhaps...if you are using a yahoo email address doesn't mean you have
to be using a yahoo server?

Here are my settings for my yahoo account:

Incoming mail (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing mail (SMTP): 25
Incoming (POP3): 110

Interesting. The Yahoo uk settings are:
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 995

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
