i can't see another computer over a vpn

i have managed to vpn connect to another computer through
adsl over the internet. our 'network connections' show
that we are connected, but we can't see each other.

my computer is running xp pro, the other is running xp
home. both are behind routers and as far as i know all
necessary ports have been forwarded. as i've said, the
vpn is connected.

have tried mapping... no luck.

any suggestions? i would also appreciate any
alternatives for direct file sharing.

You need to install NetBEUI protocall on all computers on
your network, for WindowsXP clients download this file and
run it, it will then allow you to install NetBEUI
protocall.
