i can't run MS dos or certian apps

hi everyone
recently i reloaded Windows Xp home and since then i hav been having the
most wierd prob i had an app called Avg Anti Virus and instd of the install
shiled i got autoexe.c.nt this file in system 32 is not sutible for running
Ms dos or micro windows apps but i've had these on my pc before it was
reloaded

please help me !!!
