I've used the Catfish prog thats out there for free, for a long
time.Used it with my W98 box, no probs,

When I got my XP laptop, I loaded catfish, and had to set the
compatibilty props to run like in W98, ran great for over a year,

Now I get:

16 bit windows subsystem
"C:Windows\system32\autoexec.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and MS Windows apps."

I know I'm OT here, and I'm crossing to a XP disc group, so just a
pointer to a link or answer is all I'm asking for here.(What I'll
probably get is a lot of suggestions to use whatever everyone's other
catalog app is better) But I'd really like to learn what's buggy here.

Many TIA's

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit
Windows-based program
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324767

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file widupdater.exe and
creating registry entries for that file.

Thanks.
I actually solved it this way :
went looking for the autoexecnt file mentioned, wasn't in the sys32
folder as the message said, did a asearch and found it in
C;windows\repair
just for the hell of it, I copied and pasted the file into the sys32
folder and guess what? My prog runs now.

Many thanks for your kind reply
