I can't receive or send mail

U

I try loggin into my account, but I get this message.

"The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could
not be verified. The certificat's CN name does not match the passed value."

How do I fix this?

U

The incoming and outgoing servers are both mail.resurrectionpictures.org
The port number for outgoing is 25 and the incoming port number is 110.

Ok. I am able to receive mail now, but I still can't send mail. This is the
message I keep getting.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'.
Subject 'Emails', Account: 'mail.resurrectionpictures.org', Server:
'mail.resurrectionpictures.org', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 5.7.1
<[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: Access denied',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Please help me!

In that case it should not be concerned about any security certificate.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option (two places). If the problem continues,
go to Tools, Options, Security, make sure the last two boxes are
unchecked.

This is a different error message than what you got before.
At least you are opening a channel to the SMTP server now.
Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

If the problem continues, you may have to substitute the SMTP
server belonging to your ISP.

Ok, I am really getting frustrated, I have tried both my windows live
account and my aol account, I can not send nor receive emails and I always
get an error message! ...where are they people who can help! People who
contact me for business purposes are using an windows mail server! This is
very important!! TY

Well, don't keep the error message a secret. It is the key to figuring
out which setting you have wrong. Right-click on your error message,
copy, then paste it into a reply here.

If you want to set up your AOL account in Windows Mail, follow
AOL's instructions:
http://postmaster.aol.com/imap/express.html

Those instructions were written for Outlook Express, but
Windows Mail uses the same settings as Outlook Express.

If you want to set up your Live.com or Hotmail account, follow the
settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

If you continue to get error messages, let us know. We can help.

I have roadrunner for my isp, I called them and they can't help me to get my
emails. Please help me get my emails.

This is the error message I get.
Account: 'Illi', Server: 'POP-server.hawaii.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Gary VanderMolen \(MVP\)

First, test your password by logging in to your webmail:
https://webmail.hawaii.rr.com .
If that works, it proves you have the correct username and password.
A likely reason for the username/password failing is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm
