i can't open any documents in Word

When I try to open my word files ijust get the hourglass and a not responding
message. This happened after I emailed myself a copy of a word document I
was working on at home, opened it in my office, made some changes and tried
to save it. Now I cant open anything in Word. Please help with any advise.

The quick but unsafe way is to uninstall the security patch that's
causing the problem. In Add/Remove Programs, check the box at the top
marked "Show updates". Select "Security Update for Windows XP
(KB908531)" and click the Remove button.

Use the registry change in Method 1. Also read the replies that follow
that post, which give some useful advice.
