I can't get Vista Security to let me Admin HP Printer

R

Ron Boetger

I have an older HP LaserJet 2100. Vista will not let me manage the
printer with the EI using the IP address of the printer. EI keeps
blocking the web site with the error "WIndows has blocked this
software because it can't verify the publisher.

How do I turn this crap off!!! This is just killing my productivity.

Typical lame Microsoft over managing. You probably need to fiddle
around with Group Policy settings. I don't know if this will help or
not, but a start:

If that don't work maybe setting up a "trusted" site in Internet
Explorer. That's what I had to do in order to get Microsoft crap to
allow a cool Java applet from E-Trade to display real time updates of
my investments in that account.

Welcome to Vista! I hate it too...I don't need protected from myself.
Have you tried starting EI using 'run as admin'?
I don't have a printer that old, so I haven't tried it...
I enabled the real (hidden by default) admin account in Vista and it is a
little more useable.
