I can't get the XP defragger to complete

When I ran the defragger through XP it comes up with the following message;
"Defragmentation of (C:) has been aborted due to inconsistencies that were
detected in the filesystem. Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on (C:) to repair
these inconsistencies, then run Defragmenter again."

I ran CHKDSK several times, but each time I try to run the defragger it
comes up with the same message. This is really frustrating.
CHKDSK doesn't come up with any errors. I've also just repaired XP and still
no change.

Can anyone help?

CHKDSK
chkdsk drive /p /r
The chkdsk command checks the specified drive and repairs or recovers the drive if the drive requires it.The command also marks any bad sectors and it recovers readable information.

You can use the following options:
/p : Does an exhaustive check of the drive and corrects any errors.
/r : Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.
