Gail

I didn't know about IMPORT & EXPORT, so before I restored
my W-XP I just copied my Documents, Favorites, and
Outlook Express accounts & addresses to a CD.

I managed to retrieve my Docs & Favs (one by one), but I
can't even open a file/folder to retrieve the Outlook
Express stuff.

I hope someone knows how I can retrieve them.

Thanks, Gail

Gail,
If you copied, say your address book, and you want to import it back (and
for any other OE stuff, I believe,) you need to:
1. Put your CD in your CD Drive
2. Create a New Briefcase, by right-click blank area of desktop, click new,
select briefcase.
3. Open, then MINIMIZE briefcase to taskbar
4. Open your CD-ROM folder
5. Click ONE item you want for OE, hold down CTRL and click the rest.
6. Release CTRL, and DRAG the items to the Briefcase in the Taskbar. (NOTE:
Drag items to the briefcase button, DO NOT LET GO, soon the briefcase window
will open and drag the contents into that window.
DO THE FOLLOWING FOR ALL ITEMS:
7. Right Click the file in the briefcase
8. Go to Properties>Update Status tab>Click SPLIT FROM ORIGINAL.
This will make orphan copies in your Briefcase, now you can use OE and
import from the briefcase. Hope this helps. If you don't understand the
instructions, e-mail to (e-mail address removed)
