I can't delete a message that I sent to myself in my Inbox & Sent

I recently sent myself an email from an article I was reading on the
internet. It is stuck in my "Inbox" & "Sent" box. I get a message that
says: "Windows Mail has stopped working". I looked for a solution in MS
Communities and found someone who has a similar problem on 3/12/07 labeled "I
can't delete an email in my inbox.
I read many of the answers and tried to do this one first:

Try the Hotfix in this support file: x".

When I tried to download the fix, after allowing it to run, continue, etc, I
rec'd a message that read: The update does not apply to your system.

I'm using Windows Mail, MS Vista Home Premium, 32 bit.

I also read the reply from DGuess which seems rather complicated for me. I
am not very computer literate.

So I was wondering if anything has changed since 3/07 that I could fix it in
an easier way?

The reason it says the fix does not apply to your system is probably
because you've updated to Vista SP1. SP1 includes the fix.

I recommend you try the various database repair utilities in the WMUtil
program: http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil

Hi Gary,

I used the link you gave me saved the file to my desktop as wmutil51.zip and
then clicked on WMUtil.exe and I got this:

1. Compact Database; Repair Database; Clear Outbox
2, File Utilities; File Statistics; Clear Black Files

I clicked on Repair Database and somehow I got to Registry Easy.exe. I used
the free version. When it scanned my computer it came up with 1201 errors.
WIth the unregistered version I fixed some of the errors. I did not buy the
Registered Version ($34.95) or the Extended License ($9.99) or the Buy
Perfect Uninstaller ($9.99).

When I clicked on Scxout.dll11, I didn't know that I should do there.

Help!!!!!

I make it a rule not to buy anything online that I didn't seek out.
Most of the so-called registry cleaners are useless snake oil.

There should be no connection between WMUtil and RegistryEasy.exe.
You should not be clicking on Scxout.dll, only click on WMUtil.exe.

contains instructions on how to use that program.

Which box should I click or should I click on all of them:

1. Compact Database; Repair Database; Clear Outbox
2. File Utilities; File Statistics; Clear Blank Files

I clicked on the "Repair Database" one already and that's when I got to the
Registry Easy.exe. with all those file errors.

What should I do next?

I would do the different functions in this order:
1. Clear Blank Files
2. Compact Database
3. Repair Database.

I just tried the 'Compact Database' in WMUtil, and it did not bring up
anything related to RegistryEasy.exe. If yours does, your PC may be
infected with a virus.

Hi Gary,

Well, I'm not quite sure what or how I did what I did but I tried to do all
the different functions as you suggested.

When I first did them, when I clicked on "Clear Output", I got this long
message that started out like this: Unable to access database. System.Dll
not found Excepton: Unable to load DLL "scxout.dll": The specified module
could not be found (exception from HRESULT: Ox8007007E) at
Wmutil.MWMUtil.XOut (IntPtr.pszLogPak,IntPtr PszLogPath,IntPtr
pszName,XoutCallback.Proc x)atWMUtcl.frm WMUtil1btnXOut-Click (Object
sender,Event,Arap e). I think this is what is said------

Then I did it again and I didn't get that message. But I noticed when I did
it again that it said "This application may depend on other compressed files
in this folder. For the application to run properly, it is recommended that
you first extract all fiiles. So I clicked on the box that said "Extract
All".

Then on the left side under folders, I saw these 2 folders: 1.
Wmultil151.zip 2. Wmutil151. So I clicked on each of them and somehow there
was another choice added to the screen. I tried to print the screen but it
won't print here. I don't know why.

But now I have 3 things listed on the screen: 1. scrout.dll 2.
WindowsMail.INTEGR... and then the word "Raw all the way to the right of it &
3. WMUtil.exe.

When I clicked on the second one WindowsMail.INTEGR... it took me to this:

I did check my WM to see if I could now delete the message in my inbox and
sent box (I sent the message to myself) and I still got the same message
"Internet Exployer has stopped Working".

Do you think I messed anything up? I'm awful at things like this, that's
why I should leave it alone and just bear with it. But it driving me crazy
that it seems like something new is happening often and is creating problems
for me.

And please don't tell me "Don't quit you day job" !!!!!! because I lost my
job 7 1/2 years ago and it's been really rough....

HELP. (I still say that there should be a way for you to hook up to my
computer like all the other techs can!!!--They can't fix anything--you seem
to really know what you're doing.

As I said earlier, you should only be clicking on WMUtil.exe.
Yes, you will have to extract the downloaded file first since it is a
compressed .zip file.
Then when you get the WMUtil program screen as shown on that
download page, do the three functions in this order:
1. Clear Blank Files
2. Compact Database
3. Repair Database.

Hi Gary,

I did exactly what you told me in your last correspondence with me and tried
to delete the messege from my inbox. As soon as I clicked on the message,
the screen faded and I rec'd the same message: Internet Explorer has stopped
working, etc........

It sounds like your Windows Mail is badly corrupted.
I recommend you upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
