I recently upgraded to Office 2003 and was getting my email with Outlook.
It times out trying and gives me an error message 0x8004210A. Now, I cannot
get my email without disabling Norton Internet Security. Checked their sight
and they say I need to download Service Pack 3 from Microsoft Office. I did
that and it says that it won't Run it. Circles and circles here are driving
my nuts. Any help out there?

I believe NIS comes with a firewall program. If it does, try setting a rule
(exception) that allows Outlook to talk on the network.

By the way, NIS comes with antivirus as well and it tries to act as a middle
man between Outlook and the mail server. So don't forget to disable/enable
this integration as well since it can interfere with getting POP3 email.

I had a similar occurrance following the end of December NIS2005 Live
Update.

My ISP says it's Symantec's fault
Symantec say talk to my ISP
Symantec also cop-out an say talk to Microsoft.

Funny thing is that when NIS2005 is disabled I've got no problems
sending/receiving from my HTTP & IMPA accounts but can only send from
my POP account

Any other suggestions

Unfortunately no because I don't use or have access to the product to give
some good advice on what to tweak.

Likewise after the December NIS2005 update my eMail is not working. I can't
send or receive unless I disable NIS. As the live update has caused the
problem I feel that the solution has to come from Symantec and I am pursuing
this now.

See the earlier thread 11/28/05 "after a Norton Security update". I followed
this and the problem is now fixed.
