I have Outlook 2002. "Out of Office Assistance" is not showing up under
"Tools". I followed help's suggestion and made sure "Exchange Extensions"
was checked in "Add-in Manager." Still nothing. I closed Outlook and
reopened. Even ran repair but only Office was repaired not Outlook.

If you are in an Exchange environment (ask your administrator if you do
notknow) you can set the Out of the Office Assistant which is located under
Tools.

If you are not in an Exchange environment you can create a rule that replies
on all e-mails. The downside of this is that you'll have to have your
Outlook open all the time for the rules to process. Make sure you set some
exceptions (for instance based on the subject field so it will not reply on
subject with e.g. reply, failed, undeliverable, etc...) otherwhise you could
create endless mailloops between two mailservers and those can be a real
threat to the mailservers!

Not on Exchange environment. My ISP is Comcast. Is there a way to do this
without having Outlook running 24/7? Thanks.

Well not through Outlook or any other mail program then. See if your ISP has
an option for this in its webbased mailclient.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly, "Out of Office Assistance" can
ONLY work if Outlook is working in an Exchange invironment? Otherwise, I
have to use a rule?
